I will review your health history intake form with you and ask specific questions as needed in order to direct the massage session plan for example... what type of pressure do you generally like, any areas to avoid, any areas to focus on, any ticklish areas, any allergies in terms of oils or lotion? I will leave the room for you to undress to your point of comfort and position yourself underneath the top sheet (and blanket if needed for warmth). I will knock and announce myself before entering the room. I will then make adjustments to the face cradle and leg bolster so that you are comfortable. I will check in throughout the massage about my pressure level, but you should always feel comfortable to ask me to adjust at any time. You will stay modestly draped at all times with only the body region to be worked on exposed at any given time. At the conclusion of the massage I will leave the room to wash my hands, and return after you are dressed so we can discuss how you are feeling and any further recommendations and scheduling, payment.
Please contact me to find out if you are within my service area and pricing for mobile massage. *Travel fee: $30 within 20 mile radius.
I offer appointments in my home-based office in Cary, NC.
During your massage you will be modestly draped with a sheet (or sheet and blanket if needed for warmth) at all times. In NC draping is mandatory - it’s the law. The genitals and breasts will not be uncovered. That said, you can undress to your point of comfort . Once you are undressed and on the table under the drape, I will uncover only the body region to be worked.
Well, this varies from person to person. If you are just looking for some occasional relaxation, then a session every 3-6 weeks may be fine for you. However, if you are looking to address a specific condition, then it may be recommended to have massage more frequently at first and then slowly taper down to a maintenance schedule. Sometimes more frequent sessions can be effective until your goals are met and a maintenance schedule is established. I can better address this question for you after your first session when I have a better understanding of your particular muscular issues and your response to treatment.
If the massage was more focused in nature and accessing deeper muscle layers you may be slightly sore the next two days - much like a good workout at the gym. This is normal. Ideally, even if you do have some soreness, you will feel much greater ease and flexibility in your target areas. I recommend taking a hot shower or epsom salt bath to ease soreness as well as light stretching. After your session you should increase your water intake. This helps to keep your body’s tissues hydrated and healthy.
There are a few conditions that would absolutely prevent you from receiving a massage. You should not schedule a massage if you have a fever, cold/flu, COVID symptoms, contagious skin infection, or receiving active chemotherapy treatment in the last 2 weeks. It is also not recommended that you receive a massage if under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Anyone who has received a vaccination (flu, Covid or any other) should wait at least 48 hours afterwards to receive a massage.
There are many other conditions in which I may need to modify my treatments, positioning or techniques (ie arthritis, osteoporosis) or avoid an area completely (burns, broken skin, rash). With other conditions, it is a good idea to get approval from your physician prior to receiving massage (cancer, certain heart conditions, organ failure, high-risk pregnancy, other intensive medical treatment). This does not mean that you can not receive a massage, but it is best to err on the side of caution. We can discuss your specific case in our initial consultation.
We will discuss focus areas, goals for the massage. This is not included in the session time length. You will receive a full 60 or 90 minutes hands-on following our intake and you getting situated on the table.
Massage is not sexual in nature and no inappropriate or sexually suggestive remarks or advances will be tolerated. As the massage therapist I will immediately end the session if this boundary is crossed.
Life happens! I definitely understand that every so often you may need to cancel your appointment. If possible, please give at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Also, please call or text 919-439-9391 to let me know if less than 24 hours notice so that I can try to offer your appointment to someone else.
My massage table dimensions are 31” wide by 73” long. I need room to work around the table on all sides so ideally I will need a space at least 7” x 10’ free from furniture or clutter.
Yes! Massage is greatly beneficial while pregnant or in the postpartum period. I gladly treat pregnant clients after the first trimester. For anyone experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, physician approval may be necessary.
Yes, I am happy to treat clients of any age. For children under age 18 I require a minor release form to be completed by a parent. For clients under age 14, I ask a parent to be present for treatment.
